This Grade I listed building operates as an independent school and is maintained by the Stowe House Preservation Trust. The house has its roots in the late 17th century with numerous famous architects having worked at Stowe House and Gardens. Among them were Sir John Vanbrugh, William Kent, James Gibbs, Robert Adam, Thomas Pitt and Sir John Soane, making Stowe one of the most important houses and estates in the country.
